Buying a carseat rated for birth through 60lbs seemed like a good idea at the time, but now we're wishing we would have gotten one with the detachable base and EZ Carry Handle, so we could get her bundled up inside, rather than trying to get the car warmed up ahead of time, quickly strap her in, and then tuck her in with lots of blankets. Of course, we were anticipating that she'd fit in her snowsuit...
Now you might have figured out what many species figured out some time ago--the herd travels fastest when the young are not impeded by 'the elements'. Spring/summer babies allow parents to practice the 1000 other skills they need without adding another layer, so to speak. But families who make it through the winter must have the hardiest gene set and determination.
