Hot weather

It has been over 90 degrees for a few days here now - much too hot for Kirke to be outside, but Sarah and Alice find time to get outside and enjoy the sunshine.  

Four months old!

We're trying rather unsuccessfully to teach Alice to only pull the tops off the deadhead flowers, not the blooming ones.

After some early mishaps, Kirke thinks he's found a new method for teaching Alice to crawl...

Tasty socks

Alice got pretty new dancing socks from her cousins the Lymans. She really likes trying to pull the socks off, but reaching to do so can put some strain on her lower GI tract.

Bath time redux

Grandma Ann was concerned about how upset Alice got with her previous baths, so she found a baby bathtub at a garage sale for us. Alice finds it more comfortable than the sink -- that's for sure -- but I can't get her to sit up straight in it.

Cousins

We went to Winona for Mother's Day weekend. Cousin Leo, who's just about 2 years old, is fascinated by Alice and likes to pet her.

Munch, munch!

Alice is now consistently able to bring things to her mouth. This video is from a while back, but Alice's fondness for slobbering on the Pentapus -- the five-legged sort-of-sea-creature that hangs from her play pen -- is only getting stronger!

Projectile Pooping

Kirke was rudely awakened the other morning by a loud pop and "splat!" sound from the baby's room, then a series of expletives from Sarah. He jumped out of bed, fearing the worst, and discovered Sarah & baby Alice in the middle of a diaper changing session. Alice had the world's biggest, sweetest smile on her face. Sarah did not have such a sweet smile on her face.

It seems that after feeding with Sarah, Alice had been making some "toot" sounds and smelling kind of funky. So Sarah decided to change Alice's outfit. The diapers were initially clean, but once Sarah had pulled the bottoms off, Alice managed to forcefully defecate all over the wall. You may note from the picture that there's a good four feet between the bottom of Alice's butt to where the splatter hit. Impressive range she has.

Busy day at the office

Sarah is working hard at her desk to get her latest scientific paper submitted. Alice feels like a big girl when she gets to sit at her executive play station and work on grabbing felt butterflies or rolling bead cylinders.
